Soloist – I. Boguslavsky
The style of this composition is based on neo-romantic allusions, colored with nostalgia and close to what is commonly called the "new simplicity". The heartfelt lyricism here reaches that risky limit, beyond which, it seems to me, the author quite consciously transfers it to the plane of open sensitivity, even sentimentality. It is inevitable with boundless sincerity and spiritual nakedness, imbued with tenderness and kindness. (The concert is dedicated to the memory of the tragically deceased composer N. Chargeishvili.) The music is full of rapture with the pure beauty of sublime simplicity and artlessness. All these qualities, characteristic of the compositions of Y. Butsko in recent years, have not yet been understood and appreciated.
