The Second Large Organ Notebook by Yuri Butsko, by its very title, points to its predecessor – the First Large Organ Notebook, which appeared in 2003. The Second Notebook, the completion of which dates back to May-June 2010, is one of the composer’s latest works.
The Second Notebook has an eloquent subtitle: "Russian Images, Pictures, Tales, Fables and Fables." True, the First Notebook also contains motifs from Old Russian chants - as themes for development, mainly for the creation of a certain intonational, melodic, and therefore figurative field of the composition. True, the Second Notebook also contains a passacaglia, fugue and other classical polyphonic forms. However, in general, the appearance of the Second Notebook is completely different from the First: the Russian world appears here as multifaceted and mysterious.
