Composer
M. Khomitser, 1967
The composer's only composition for unaccompanied cello is a very early opus, which, it seems, has not lost its expressiveness even many years later. In style, the Partita is close to other compositions of this era, in particular the First Cello Concerto, after the premiere of which critics wrote about the acute psychological nature of the music, on the one hand, and on the other, about its "total" permeation with thematic development, when the entire composition is built as the germination of intonation cells set at the beginning. The three parts of the Partita are like a wave, slowly gaining strength in the Prelude, rising high at the end of the Fugue and gradually falling in the Postlude.
